The purpose of the organization:

  • Charitable efforts in the United States of America (USA) and Nigeria
  • Promote the cultural heritage of the people of Delta State of Nigeria in the United States of America
  • Promote social, cultural, and educational advancement of the people of Delta State of Nigeria origin in the USA and Nigeria
  • Unifying, identifying, educating, and promoting the socio-cultural and economic development of the people of Delta State origin and their families residing in Minnesota, while improving the lives of the people of Delta State in Nigeria.

Mission Statement

The Council of Chiefs Minnesota (CCM) is a duly constituted body of traditional title holders originating from Delta State, Nigeria, and residing in the State of Minnesota, United States of America. The Council is established for the purpose of preserving, promoting, and advancing the cultural heritage, values, and traditions of Delta State within the diaspora. CCM is committed to fostering educational, economic, and socio-cultural relationships between Delta State and the State of Minnesota through advocacy, community engagement, and collaborative initiatives. The Council shall serve as a conduit for cultural diplomacy, intergenerational leadership, and constructive dialogue, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between people of diverse backgrounds.

Vision Statement

To be a distinguished and unifying body of traditional leaders that fosters cultural pride, intergenerational legacy, and strategic partnerships between Delta State, Nigeria, and the State of Minnesota. The Council envisions a vibrant diaspora community where heritage is preserved, leadership is nurtured, and socio-economic collaboration thrives across borders.

Our Objectives

  1. Unifying and fostering a closer tie between citizens of both sub-nations (the Delta state of Nigeria and Minnesota) with common ancestry.
  2. Identifying areas of common interest to boost the cultural and socio-economic activities of both sub-nations.
  3. Educating the younger generation on the unique values and morals of both sub-nations through exchange programs
  4. Promoting a closer relationship between both sub-nations in the areas of economy and technology.
